Hank du jour

Brilliant line:
“This is exactly what those environmentalists should be spending their time on: Finding ways to use nature against other forms of nature that are inconvenient to man.”

‘Beavis & Butthead’ returning to MTV

Even if it sucks, Mike Judge’s involvement guarantees it’ll easily be the only thing watchable on TV’s most godforsaken network.

My interview with Gallagher

The Stranger has an entertaining piece on Gallagher the melon-smasher, now “a paranoid, delusional, right-wing religious maniac.” I can vouch for the first two, having interviewed Leo Gallagher in 2000. Only Walter Payton was more difficult, repeatedly passing gas during our chat, lifting his leg for emphasis. Back to Gallagher. He had just sued his [...]

A comedy about a befuddled, chubby Jewish guy

That pretty much sums up the Judd Apatow comedy factory. Here’s the latest from the assembly line, with Jonah Hill as Seth Rogen and a very annoying British guy.

Comedy Central’s got to be kidding

Among the more unusual ideas are a live sex-chat talk show, a program based on a Funny or Die Web short, an update of “The Odd Couple” and an animated series about Jesus Christ. That last item could raise eyebrows coming on the heels of the network’s censorship of “South Park” for its depiction of [...]

Larry David on Goldman Sachs

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” fans probably remember an episode from the first season in which Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen invite the Davids to a Paul Simon concert. Larry thinks the concert is on a Friday and assumes the Dansons have stood him up. “You know, call us and lie!” he says to Cheryl. “We don’t [...]

Need a lame landscaping joke?

Then call George Lopez, the Latino Yakov Smirnoff.
He’s getting credit for accommodating Conan O’Brien’s TBS deal, which is sort of like thanking Rick Mahler for letting Tom Glavine assume his spot in the rotation (sorry for the inside baseball, but I think you get the point).
Speaking of TBS, and the Braves, check out the arrogance [...]

South Park turns 200

Few shows have aged better.

I’m bored

I don’t get the fawning over Steve Carrell. He’s become as predictable as Robin Williams, though not nearly as annoying.
Am I alone?

King-size Simpson imitates King-size Homer

Remember when Homer intentionally gained weight so he could go on disability? (clip)
Meet Donna Simpson, who may actually be related:
A New Jersey mother of two has announced she’ll stick to a calorie-laden, ultra-sedentary lifestyle in her effort to tip the scale as one of the world’s heaviest women.
Donna Simpson, 42, already weighs 600 pounds. [...]

“The Simpsons” and Eric Massa

Excellent observation from a reader on Andrew Sullivan’s blog:
This seems to be another case of life-imitates-The-Simpsons — specifically, the episode where incarcerated attempted murderer Sideshow Bob calls into (the obvious parody of) Limbaugh’s program and casts himself as a conservative unfairly railroaded by the liberal justice system. Limbaugh turns him into a martyr.
