As I sat in this room, a make-shift theatre in the back of an organic grocery shop, with four women and two nursing babies, I was carried by their momentum. Surrounded by their art and baby food jars felt as organic as the produce shelved around me.

Surprise bitches! Sweet Dee is pregnant. Well, technically Kaitlin Olson is pregnant, but how amazing would it be if they wrote her pregnancy into the show? I would LOVE to see a pregnant Dee. Yu’s murals are like volcanic explosions of earth, fire, and water. The organic subjects of glaciers, volcanoes, and avalanches immediately made me think of Bjork’s album Homogenic, where she managed to capture the volatile beats of Iceland’s environmental mayhem. So, in honor of both of these mama artists, I put together this mini-video featuring Bjork’s “unravel” and the art of Marlene Tseng Yu.
