Wishlist: The Book Edition

As of now, my library is a pile of boxes in my living room’s walk-in closet. Each and every box is full to bursting with books. There are books on the floor. There are books in my shoe closet (don’t ask) and, come to think of it, there are a pile of books on both of nightstands. I will get myself a bookcase for Christmas…I’ll post my favorites later. But here are books to add to the pile.

I don’t actually know how to cook yet, but I’m sure Mrs.Childs can teach me a thing or 344 about it. By the way, as soon as Julie & Julia came up, this book and the second volume all of a sudden became uber popular and bids became uber pricey.

Ok, if you haven’t seen Fantastic Mr.Fox yet, please do. Yes, it’s based on a Roald Dahl’s children’s book, but that doesn’t mean it’s a kiddie-type movie. It was hilarious, quirky, classic and endearing and that’s how I knew that I would have to have the book upon which the movie was based.

I remember this book from my childhood (verily, only a few years ago) and I have no idea what happened to it. Also, I like pop-up books.

I first heard of this book in Domino Mag’s (R.I.P.) 2007 Christmas List issue. The little blurb mentioned something about paella, something that I would eat everyday if only I knew how to make it.

I like pop-up books. So what???

Hello? I love to drink. Bar tabs are incredibly expensive (for me anyway), so it would be economical to learn to make my own cocktails.

Not yet, but I’m going to make bread from scratch one day, you’ll see.

I absolutely love Kelly Wearstler. I love her home, which was featured in the November/December 2009 issue of Vogue Living Australia. Heather Clawson of Habitually Chic, raved about it last week, so I’m thinking about getting it just to look at the weird, wackadoodle hues that Mrs.Weartsler is famous for.

I’d love to learn more about African art, but it’s not really taught in school (not even in art school!). It’d be nice to learn more about non-Western art and especially about artists from around my way, ancetrally-speaking.
