Round-up: Whimsical Interiors

The surest defense against Evil is extreme individualism, originality of thinking, whimsicality, even / if you will / eccentricity. That is, something that can’t be feigned, faked, imitated; something even a seasoned imposter couldn’t be happy with.

It is a gray day in Atlanta and I’m feeling rather gray and gloomy myself.  I suppose because it’s mostly work-related, but it may also be decor-related.  I haven’t actually decorated in months and prospects aren’t looking great for any future projects.  At any rate, I thought maybe I would post some whimsical interiors to cope with the my ‘hopefully’ temporary case of the debbie downers.  Also, I really wanted to see Alice in Wonderland 3D, though I hear that’s pretty dark and gloomy as well.  Instead, I saw Brooklyn’s Finest and while it was a great movie, it’s one of those flicks that leaves well, a little bit miserable.  Blah, here’s some whimsy and cheer for us all:

Black, White and Yellow

The design aesthetic of black, white and yellow is really starting to grow on me.  What I can I say, it’s crisp, clean, it’s still pretty.  It’s not too feminine, not too masculine.  I can see why so many designers go with this color scheme.

….and everyone knows that Kelly Wearstler is just awesome. Certainly, some of her designs can go a little over the top but this design is refined, suubdued and boutique-y.

I am loving this spooky Bugs Bunny-type sculpture. And I love that both sculptures have the appearance of a silhouette and that they’re not imposing on this space.

Elle Decor House Tour

So the following house tour was featured in the March issue of Elle Decor.  I’m not in love with this loft decorated by Juan Carlos Arcila-Duque, mostly because it is kind of masculine to me.  It’s also too white and New York loft-y looking.  But I did really enjoy the slightly colorful decor of the living room and I do love this fellow’s bookcase.  But that’s mostly because I really need a bookcase (I am accepting donations, fyi.)  Either way, check out the rest of the house tour here….and here are the tidbits of the tour that I took a liking to:
