Happy AsianCajuns birthday!

You all know the famous, doubly fun, lovely Asian Cajuns, right? We celebrated their belated birthdays this past weekend and it was a blast. It was actually a triple birthday celebration — with another good friend (we’ll call him VanillaIce) who was also celebrating a belated birthday. He’s very camera shy so we’ll keep his face and identity a secret.

Yummy food was provided by Honey Pig, decadent triple cakes were provided by me (ok, ok, I ordered them from an amazing-but-under-the-radar Korean bakery), all photos taken with my iPhone, and fun was courtesy of food soulmate Troy, travel soulmate Dr. Matt, and best buddy VanillaIce and MichaelJ.

Oh, and before I forget… please vote for Cath and Lar in this year’s Best Of ATL 2011 Best Local Blog. Why? Because where else can you find the most super awesome identical twins, food, fashion, travel, art, even guns all in one place! Oh, did I mention they’re also TV celebrities? In case you missed it…

Happy birthday, Cath and Lar! You didn’t have to share a birthday cake though you did get identical ones Also, big thanks goes to VI! Here’s to another year of more food and fun!

Dear Summer,

SM is not happy right now. No, no. It's not you, it's me. We have had such a great time together. Remember those times I painted my toes and wore sandals? And remember that time you were all sunshiny and we shared frozen drinks together? Oh! And those times that we'd eat outside together? Boy, those times were great!

I looked at the calendar last night and you know what I saw? September 23. Do you know what that is? The first day of Autumn.

Yeah, I know. That means that really soon we're gonna have to break up for a little while. I don't know if you and Autumn are friends but she and I are only lukewarm. I don't really like her all that much. She's kind of cool towards me. She acts like you, but then she gets cool and I have to get a sweater. Then she gets warm again. She's too wishy-washy for me.

I also don't like her that much because after she comes along then Winter comes. Winter is on my sh*#t list. I can't stand her arse! She's all cold and frosty, like she's better that folks! I gotta put on extra clothes just to hang around her! And, she doesn't like my sandals or my tank tops. And, get this, she looks all sunshiny from the inside then you go outside and she's cold! I know. What kinda mess is that?

Oh, now Spring is okay. You know, her right? She gets warm but she brings these things that make me sneeze and stuff. I don't really like that but she tries to be friends. She really does. So, I tolerate her.

And then you come back to me and everything is right with the world. Yeah, I kinda have a crush on you. No, I don't want you to feel odd about it. I want you to embrace it. I do. I will yell to the world that I like you. I hope you like me back.

Well, since I know you are going away, I made you something. Yep! It's a photo album of our times together. It will keep us both warm while Autumn and Winter are here. Have fun while you're in Australia. Send me a postcard. I'll be thinking of you!

Yesterday, I finished my second final of my second semester of nursing school. As many of you know, this summer has been a whirlwind of a semester, and it has been more than trying at times. However, I worked my ass off, and studied hard, and all my hard work paid off; another semester is complete, and I have officially made it through two semesters of nursing school.

A (VERY) nice bottle of champagne, and a delightful afternoon with some of my fellow nursing student friends was a great ending to a hellish summer semester. We all deserved it, and I had a blast yesterday! Now, a couple of weeks of R&R, and I want to knock these other two semesters out of the park as well. I’m well on my way!!

I know, I know, it’s been too long. But life with a 4 month old doesn’t particularly lend itself to blogging quite often, you know?

I do have a bunch of things to share, but let me show you a little slice of heaven that was had last night:

A bunch of us went to Anis for the lovely Hakeber’s birthday celebration, and in turn I was introduced to the best moules frites I’ve ever tasted. Kudos to knowing the chef, too, as we were treated with sinfully yummy desserts and even more champagne that I had already indulged in. Hey, mommies need nights out, too!

All you need is love.

This one is an interesting one. Today's task is to "Share your thoughts on positivity, supporting other women, the future of communities if we could eliminate drama and negativity and what it means to act in love at all times".

I wrote this post several different times before deciding to just keep it simple. I have a circle of lovely friends. They are so dear to me. I will try to act in love with them at all times. I will make more batches of veggie soup. I will send more "just because" cards. I will think of them twice as much as I do now. I will tell them what they mean to me and support them in their endeavors.

I don't think that's to big a task -- especially for a Super Mommie.

So, I pretty much had the most perfect day yesterday. I left work a tad early, did a little shopping and met an old grad school friend for a drink downtown. It's comforting (NOT) to know that your friends take great joy in laughing at you. I just received not 1, not 2 but 5 phone calls/text messages warning me about the following...

Everyone that knows me, knows I have a weird fear of zebras. I can look at them from afar or in animated form but a real zebra up close (or even one on tv on the evening news) freaks me the"eff" out. And dear God, don't show the head up close. I will really scream.

Someone told me its cause by vertigo. I just say zebrazoophobia. I've looked it up on the internet and I don't see a definition for it (or a self help group).

So what would have happened had I been driving on the highway and I had seen the zebra? Well, my car would have had a funny smell for weeks and people in Texas would have heard my scream. I would have run over several cars to get the hell out of the way. God sent me home early today for a very good reason! He knows my fears and He comforts me -- and He thought that it would be funnier this way.

Thanks to all of my "friends" that called and sent me text messages to tell me about the zebra and then laugh at me.

Zebra, I'm glad that you are safe but I glad I didn't see you.
