Best thing I ate last week: Empire State South

I was cajoled by my sister to have a very late lunch here. It was 15 minutes til closing when we came in but we made sure (called ahead) and asked again upon arrival if it was still okay to come in. I’ll leave the pedigree details to all the other reviewers here, [...]

Get up to this: West Egg Cafe

West Egg Cafe has been one of my go-to places for breakfast (that is, the few times I can get myself out of bed early enough). Had a chance to finally go to their new location in White Provisions a couple of months back and I might say, the place is really nice. [...]

Pink is the New Chocolate

Chocolate. The mere mention of this word can be an aphrodisiac to some. When you take the decadently rich literal product and use it as one of the main ingredients in a cornucopia of incredibly delicious desserts, well… that’s when the oft over-used …

Dinner now: NOON Midtown

Quite simply one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had in a while: Spring Fettucine. Made with homemade fettuccine and house-made ricotta. With thin strips of asparagus to hold the pasta together as you twirl your fork around. Fresh mushrooms and English peas complete the gang. Oh so unbelievably light [...]

Fave burger: Bocado

This is my current favorite burger: buttery, soft bun, tender, juicy, tasty patties, gooey cheese — *swoon*. Paired with perfect fries.

This roasted poblano-bacon-fried green tomatoes-pimiento cheese sandwich is a great contender. And the accompanying tomato bisque is fantastic. Go ahead, dip your sandwich in it. Thank me later.
P.S. You know [...]

Get this biscuit: NOON Midtown

It’s called the The Stack: crispy, tender fried chicken fillet, thick slices of Benton’s bacon, gooey Tillamook cheddar, a fried egg, all slathered in a creamy sausage gravy, inside a fluffy, fresh-baked biscuit. Down that with an ice-cold bottle of Diet Coke and you have an amazing breakfast.

Or get this– Kobe Roast Beef: [...]

Tuk Tuk Thai Food Loft

Have you really seen or tasted street food in Bangkok? I have been there countless times and have eaten every single street food available. It is one of my most favorite cities for eating. And it is a very vibrant, very alive country. Here are some of the street food pictures I [...]

4th & Swift

I’ve enjoyed Chef Jay Swift’s continental cuisine back when he was still at Rainwater (Alpharetta, now closed). Now in Midtown, his take on farm-to-table comfort food is refreshing.

The menu is divided into the day’s dishes, as well as the current seasonal offerings. On a recent visit, all I wanted to eat were the small [...]

Antico Pizza Napoletana– in pictures

My friend PT, aka the pizza enabler, invited me to lunch at Antico. I had never been so I jumped at the opportunity. That was Friday. I’ve been back twice since. To say it was the most fun lunch would be an understatement. Giovanni was not only the most gracious [...]

Mary Mac’s Tea Room

My dad’s office was literally two blocks away so eating here when we were younger was a regular thing when we came to play at his office. It’s been about a couple of years since I’ve been at Mary Mac’s so I talked a friend into joining me for lunch last week. I [...]

King & I

This is another place I grew up eating at. There were only a handful of Thai restaurants then and this and Thai of Norcross were among the first successful ones. I remember back in the late 80s, a group of (MBA) students were waiting tables here and my mom told me (in hush-hush [...]

Livingston Restaurant + Bar

After undergoing a multi-million renovation, The Georgian Terrace, an Atlanta institution, now sports a more grand, more modern appeal while still retaining its Southern feel.

Included in the face lift is the beautiful Livingston restaurant and bar headed by Chef Gary Mennie. The stylish space includes snakeskin-covered furniture, chrome and leather seats, and floor-to-ceiling windows, [...]
