It will feature headliners such as Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, Skrillex, M83 and Crystal Castles along with several local stalwarts in the dance, hip hip and chillwave circles. Atlanta’s Big Boi and Washed Out with perform sets as well as Athens, GA upstarts Reptar. Former Atlanta resident, Treasure Fingers, will also be included in the lineup.

The lush, riverfront setting will provide camping, an arts village, local chefs, a beer garden featuring local breweries, and several food trucks. The multistage festival marks the first partnership between C3 Presents and MCP Presents. The two companies have produced several festivals; C3 has produced Austin City Limits Festival and Lollapalooza, while MCP has been responsible for such festivals as Camp Bisco, The Buku Project, Lights All Night and The Echo Project.

Rain or shine, we’re well into Spring. Which means it’s time for the Kirkwood Spring Fling once again. Benefitting the Kirkwood Neighbors Organization, the family-friendly festival features a 5K, juried Artist Market with more than 90 booths, tons of live music, creative kids’ activities, a new Green Area and the Tour of Homes.

This year’s music includes No Parachute, Lauren St. Jane & the Dead Westerns, The Deadfields, Blair Crimmins and the Hookers, Noot d’ Noot, Ruby Velle and the Soulphonics.

If you’re bringing the little ones, there will be everything from a moonbounce, festival games (and prizes!), Wren’s Nest storyteller Mama Koku, hooping with HoopEssence, crafts with SoulShine, and if that hasn’t exhausted them, a circus camp.

Food trucks, water, soft drinks, beer and homemade sangria will be available to keep you on your toes through the weekend.

The Tour of Homes will feature Victorian, Queen Anne, Eastlake, Craftsman and modern architecture seen in seven homes built from the late 1800s to 1900s.

I popped into Apache Cafe last Friday to catch Bosco before she absconded for her spring tour in support of her band’s Let Go Of Me EP release.

Opening for the incomparable Rahbi, Bosco breezily liberated a short set of scintillating, lush numbers on the expectant crowd. 

Along with reminding the 21st century – and everyone in it – that the tambourine is wildly underused, Bosco’s genreless, unpigeonholeable sound makes a head nodder out of the most apathetic bystander. Yea Yay and Balloons stood out as crowd favorites.

The closing, riotous rendition of Joker had the audience lined up for marching orders. With their sound sculpting revolution on the road, Bosco and company will undoubtedly recruit a whole new army of fans.

It’s Monday and I’m feeling rough. Sign of a good weekend and plead for some good new music to keep me going. Brooklyn-based Tiny Victories released the video for “Mr. Bones,” off their debut EP Those Of Us Still Alive, out now via BirdDog Records.

Directed by Brian Bowman of Nice Shoes studio, the electropop duo demonstrate their layer over layer of dancey hook-filled rock to a room full of hair swinging and eager hands. Stay tuned for their upcoming full-length debut.

MTV, where I first discovered the Beastie Boys, are paying tribute to MCA with mtvU, MTV Hits and MTV Jams playing back-to-back Beastie Boys music video hours. Tonight at 8pm ET/PT, MTV News will present a one-hour live special remembering Adam from its Times Square newsroom. The special will highlight the Beastie Boys and Adam’s career through music videos, performances, MTV moments and remembrances from his peers. The special will re-air at 11pm ET/PT on MTV2.

Adam Yauch, a member of the seminal hip-hop trio the Beastie Boys, has died. He was 47 years old.

The Brooklyn-born musician known to fans as MCA was first treated for cancerous growths in his parotid gland and a lymph node in 2009 and subsequently underwent surgery and radiation therapy, which forced the delay of the Beastie Boys’ most recent album Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. His illness has also kept the group off the road, and Yauch missed the group’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame two weeks ago.
